You may have already heard by now that Daigo Umehara has signed a deal with Mad Catz. The deal will work very much like the endorsement deals that professional athletes get. Daigo is basically going to get paid to use Mad Catz equipment such as their fight sticks, speak favorably about the company and appear in promotional spots that they do.
With deals like these and the fact that bookers are taking bets on Street Fighter matches, have we truly entered the age of gaming sports?
