VideoGames Daily’s Rupert Higham had a chance to talk to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 producer Ryota Niitsuma. During his talk he got to grill Niitsuma about the lack of Darkstalkers characters in MVC3. The reasons he gave might surprise you.
Basically he said the Darkstalkers characters transform too much and when you are dealing with polygons and not hand drawn sprites it tends to use a lot of memory. According to Niitsuma the Darkstalkers that did make it into the game, Morrigan and Felicia, take their toll on memory.
Also Ryota Niitsuma said that a fighter like Demetri who transforms other fighters into the opposite sex might now sit too well with the higher ups at Marvel.
‘Darkstalkers characters are all complete memory hunger-mad characters because they constantly transform into things. They can’t just walk – they have to change into something when they move and it just uses a lot of data. Even just having these two is a big deal. To put Demitri in we’d have to have time to make a whole other game. Doing that in 3D is a big issue. Maybe it was one of those things that we could only do because it was 2D. But fighting games have started to catch on again so perhaps at this rate… you never know.’

No! They just became lazy and thinking again and again for money and somewhat they transform slowly into a corrupt company as they lose some of there workers and for a DLC Character in MvC3 u need 5 Bucks!And that sucks and I’m sorry that I’m making “and” and “and” again

And yet putting in Amaterasu, who has multiple weapons, and therefore multiple move sets, Deadpool, who uniquely interacts with the onscreen displays, are not to hard to do. But god forbid you should have to actually model 3d characters for a 3d game. I’m in a college course now where I have to do that very thing, so don;t tell me it’s to hard to bother to do. It’s just laziness. Plain and simple.
I guess what he was trying to say is that it is the actually morphing of their bodies that make the Darkstalkers a pain. many of the Darkstalkers normals have their limbs changing into something else whereas most fighting game characters limbs and proportions are always the same.
And Capcom f*cks over Darkstalkers once more.
argh, The darkstalker series introduced alot of variety to the Capcom character roster. It doesn’t even have to be Demitri. There are alot of characters that would represent Darkstalkers well enough. They could tone down the morphing and transformation a little to help with data. Morrigan was a hit. Bringing more DS characters would bring a whole new crowd and a new playstyle to make the game more interesting.

man some of you guys are idiots, he is not in because of his midnight bliss super would require female models fro each male character in the game. Besides the fact that it may make Marvel upset. i would rather not have him and be able to have other unique characters.
felicia sucks whenever i play online i don’t remember seeing anyone who plays with that character, and if for memory thy’re complaining just remove the midnight bliss (which transforms oponents in women) and add another special,

At this point you are probably better off just wishing for a new Darkstalkers.

So making a brand new model of each character in the game plus every DLC characters is much easier than giving a wolf a sword, a disk, and a whip?
Not to mention every time Demitri would be loaded up 5 different models (6 if there’s two people using him) would have to be loaded up as well.

This is bullshit I would pay more to have some good darkstalkers instead of buyin say Dan or someother character who would suck. Honestly just do it. Hell I really don’t think marvel well be pissed off bc they keep on making crazy mini comics. -example marvel zombies- I think there just to lazy. Totally lame! I wanted him badly to plus Lilith and jedah. ~Only characters I really want but plus some more marvel to balance the roster~ just release some dlc already. -_-
well. MVC3 has 3 Darkstalkers. That’s only one less than there are Street Fighters (4)
