My roots in Web Design can actually be traced back to the mid 90′s. It was then that I was introduced to the power of the internet through a church based program for boys that I was a part of. I was amazed by the idea of creating content on a computer and making it so the whole world could see. However back then the World Wide Web was not that impressive. The technology was new and every website looked equally as crude and ugly as the next. At the time I never thought of Web Design as a possible career path but I was very much a fan who wanted to learn all he could.
A few years later I was a young adult and was aggressively pursuing one of my passions, music. I was part of a group who would perform at local venues and it not take long for me to realize that the web could be a great tool for us to get our name out. I began getting back into Web Design. By now the tech had come a long way but was still rather basic. I was able to design several versions of my groups’ website.
If we fast forward to today my interest in the internet has never subsided and i had always kept up with the trends. However amazingly it had never crossed my mind to jump into Web Design with both feet and try it out as a career. Guess it was fate when I was contacted by a recruiter from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh who informed me about their Web Design and Interactive Media program. It seemed like a perfect fit and it was.
Now I have the skills to go along with the passion I have had for the web for all these years.
