New Super Street Fighter IV Developer Blog Confirms Yun And Yang Being Added

Well, seems like the rumors have been true. Over on the Saikyo Blog Tomoaki Ayano posted and the infamous image of the roller blades and skate board that had showed up in a Japanese magazine in the past few days but with words overlaying saying “What in the world are these!?”. This pretty much confirms that both Yun and Yang are indeed coming to the arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV. Also we were told that more location tests are going to be happening soon at High Tech Land Sega Avion in Osaka on 9/11 and 9/12 it is very likely that we will see these new fighters in action then.

Also Yoshinori Ono posted some pics over on his Twitter that some are saying allows you to see Yun and Yang on the select screen.

Go go, R&D for Arcade Ver. We are making effort !! http://twitpic.com/2kqng2less than a minute ago via Twitpic

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Developer Blog: Gamescom is a Wrap!

Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 producer Niitsuma-san posted a new blog which has been translated. It is actually a good read as it not only recounts his time at Gamescom, he also tells a little about some upcoming character reveals and voice work.

Hey everyone! This is Niitsuma, who is constantly being sent around the world.

While I know there’s plenty to be done in marketing the game internationally, with too much on my plate it kind of wears me out. However, as Japan is still in the middle of an intense heat wave, it might be kind of nice to go to Europe and its 68-degree weather…

Speaking of which, last week I was in Europe to pay a visit to our Capcom Europe branch, and also for Gamescom in Germany. The primary purpose of the visit was to give a presentation to our Capcom Europe staff on how to best promote the game in England, and to support our European fans with press meetings and whatnot. As Capcom did not have a booth at Gamescom, we rented out meeting rooms and hotel suites nearby and had playable versions for members of the press to play around with.

In interacting with the European press, I felt that it was a bit different from North America. The Europeans are a bit more calm and relaxed towards fighting games than the North Americans; they asked plenty of questions about the game, as well as things like “What do you think about the future direction of fighting games”, stuff I couldn’t answer easily. There were a lot of those types of questions, so in some ways it was a bit difficult.

^Here is where we held all our interviews. We met with almost 20 companies in just one day, so when all was said and done I was completely exhausted.

^The playable version we had available to the press.

Changing gears a bit, last time Kadowaki, the assistant producer on the game, said that it was just about time to reveal a certain something to the public. Well, that “something” is a character reveal of course, but in our final checks we hit a bit of a snag. So we had to change up the characters.

Which means that, yes, the reveal that Dormammu is playable not the “something” that Kadowaki-san was talking about. We’re ironing out the kinks, and we’ll be able to properly reveal this character very soon, so please be on the lookout for that.

To close things out, how about a little news tidbit? I’m sure everyone is thinking about what’s going on with the voice settings.

For MvC3, all Capcom characters will have English and Japanese voices, while the Marvel characters will have English voices only. At first, we planned to have English and Japanese voices for all the characters. But personally, I felt that having the Marvel characters speaking Japanese wouldn’t really go well with their image. I gave it a lot of consideration, and the final result was that Marvel characters would have English voices only. It’s important to preserve the character’s image.

Of course, for the characters with English and Japanese voices, you will be able to set voice settings individually per character. So if you feel that a certain character is definitely in Japanese, or English better suits another character, you can change them as you please.

So we’re going to have some Capcom characters who only spoke English in their original games, now with a Japanese vocal recording. It’ll be interesting to hear some of these characters in Japanese for the first time.

Well, I guess that just about wraps it up for this week? See you next time…

P.S.
I was in Europe for almost 2 weeks, but I only got to take a few pictures.

^Trafalgar Square in London. It was a nice day, so I definitely had to get some fresh outside air.

^Cologne Cathedral in Germany. I took this pic as I was on my way back to Japan. This incredible sight is just right in front of the station.

^Some of the Capcom Europe staff. They’re working really hard out there. And after work, we all went out for dinner. Check out the size of that draft beer – it’s 1 whole liter!

Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Developer Blog: Gamescom Coming!

Here’s a translation of the newest Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 blog from Kadowaki. He teases something new for Gamescom.

Hey everyone, Kadowaki here, it’s been a while!

If you aren’t in Japan, let me tell you… it is HOT here. This is the second summer we’ve had since development on the game started. Last summer we were working on the Ryu and Captain America models through trial and error (of course, that doesn’t mean we weren’t working on the other characters!).

It took a lot of time to get those models done because we wanted to work on a lot of the basic model features, such as silhouettes and other touch-ups. If we ever release some sort of production book on the game, there’s a lot I want to talk about!

As we race towards our release date slated for next year, the development on the game is coming to an exciting climax. There’s still so many things we have to decide on… someone help me! Haha.

Oh yeah, this month there’s the Gamescom event in Europe. This is a great chance for us on the development team, so we’ve been making the necessary preparations… even though we don’t have a proper exhibit for the game at the show.

Right now we’re busy prepping another promotional video, so please keep an eye out for it! Of course, everyone is hungry for new information, but please be patient! Maybe we’ll even reveal some new characters??

We’re really looking forward to the fan response to what we have in store at events like these, since it gives us the encouragement and support that we need to keep working so many long hours on the game.

You’ll notice at the top of the official homepage that we set up a Twitter link, so if you have an account with Twitter, try searching for updates with the #MVC3 tag. You may find people who you’ll want to follow!

With all of the gameplay videos that we’ve prepped, have you noticed that in all of them, the Marvel characters are always winning? (Did you actually notice this?) You probably have some assumptions on this, but there is a reason behind it.

The reason is that the win poses for the Capcom characters are not quite at a point where we can show them to you. Since we started work on the Marvel characters first, we were further along with their development and were able to make win poses, which is why they always win. Sorry for disappointing all of our loyal Capcom fans.

Don’t worry though, we’re putting a lot of effort into this game, so the next time we show something off, we’re hoping to exceed your expectations.

Speaking of effort, it’s already September… every day is becoming a struggle, but you know what? We’re still having a lot of fun working on this game.

Here are some pictures that we took from last month’s Comic-Con. We had these limited edition Comic-Con tshirts (the back also contains comic panels!) as well as this cool Marvel coaster that was being used at the Marvel party after Comic-Con closed for the day.

That’s it for now, look forward to hearing from everyone soon!

Nakky Blog 2/25/10: Tournament Qualifers

Some of you may get a kick out of this week’s Nakky Blog but I’m honestly a bit disappointed. I look forward to her blogs because thats usually where the big news is detailed. Nothing much here though

Hello everyone!
Thanks for the massive amount of comments on last week’s blog!

You know how in Ibuki’s part on the new character trailer her pet racoon Don made some appearances? I had to do the checking of Don’s images, and it was really strict – we did more retakes for Don than Ibuki.

Well then, first off the details for the Last Chance entry for the Street Fighter IV National Tournament have been decided on, so I’d like to tell you all about it! (You can also find this info on the official site’s special page)

For teams who would like to enter, please fill out the “Last Chance Sign-Up” between 9 and 10AM within the event hall. (Team priority will not be given)

There are 2 Last Chance spots. To decide these spots, we’ll have a tournament! However, the tournament won’t be held on VEWLIX cabinets, but on the XBox 360 with MADCATZ arcade sticks. Of course, you will only be allowed to use arcade characters.

We will announce the tournament brackets at 10:30, and the tourney starts at 11! There will be two blocks, and the winner from each block will get the Last Chance entry spot in the National Tournament!

So now we have 8 teams that have been decided on through qualifiers, as well as the Dream Team! There are still 3 qualifiers left (you still can enter!). With 2 Last Chance spots, that makes for 13 spots so far. We haven’t revealed the 14th and final spot yet, so look forward to it!

Today, there’s one other bit of news I’d like to present to you all! …I say that, but this was already announced yesterday on the Mini Capcom! blog that I’m sure many of you keep up with. As part of the SSFIV Special Features from the e-Capcom website, there will be an “e-Capcom Special DVD” featuring match videos from top players! And our Mini Capcom! staff Ms. Maka and Mr. Minisuke were able to get the scoop on these top players!

Entry No.1, Umehara!
Well known as the God of Capcom fighting games, in SFIV he uses Ryu. He is a member of the Dream Team for the National Tournament. Also, I saw him the other day at Shinjuku station…sorry for staring. Of course, he will be using Ryu in all the matches.

Entry No. 2, Iyo!
He took home the championship at the first National Tournament, and is the man who brought out Dhalsim’s true potential. He uses Dhalsim in SFIV. This character and player duo has the highest synch ratio of anyone else (I think at least). He hasn’t been appearing in many big tournaments lately, but it seems that he still keeps his play up! Of course, he will be using Dhalsim in all the matches.

Entry No. 3, Shiro!
He took 2nd at SBO together with Iyo, and having won the first Kanto Qualifier his place in the National Tournament is all set. He uses Abel in SFIV. To me, he’s the most sparkling player (you don’t care…). Of course, he will be using Abel in all the matches.

Entry No. 4, Kindevu!
He secured his place in Nationals at Kyushu Qualifiers, and his joy at doing so left a big impression. In SFIV he uses Rufus. He has the 2nd best player/character synch ratio (just what I think). He has the title of “Person To Look Out For in 2010″ title on his Viper card. Of course, he will be using Rufus in all the matches!

Entry No. 5, Tokido!
He’s a student at Tokyo University, and the best Akuma player…two God-given gifts. He earned his place in the National tournament at the Tohoku Qualifiers. He was at SBO for both SFIV and SFIII, and for SFIV he lost to Makoto. Will he be able to get his revenge on Makoto who is on the Dream Team?!

Entry No. 6, Momochi!
As part of Kindevu’s team at the Kyushu Qualifiers, he was also thrilled to earn his spot! He has Grandmaster status for Akuma and Ryu, and Master status for Viper and Ken. He took the title at SBO 09 in SFIII using Makoto. So of course, the character he’ll be using on the e-Capcom DVD is Makoto! He is the second best Akuma player right behind Tokido.

Entry No. 7, Tokidoki Nukinkusu!
A famous player who often teams up with Umehara to form the team Umenuki. He hasn’t been playing very much recently, but he’s still boasts the No. 1 BP out of all Chun users! It will be good to see his level-headed play again on the e-Capcom DVD. He will be using Chun for all matches.

Entry No. 8, Itabashi Zangief!
His title is “Fair Maiden”. He’s well known as a Virtua Fighter player, but he’s also making his name known in SFIV as a top player! As expected from a Gief player, he has a firm grip on the grapplers characters in the e-Capcom DVD. Naturally, he will be using Zangief for all matches.

We had these 8 warriors slug it out! And who came out on top? Heh heh heh, of course I can’t say anything more than that! Everyone, be sure to pick up this DVD and check out these high-level matches for yourself!

Well, I didn’t really have any big news for today, but I did give you some good info that SFIV players can’t miss out on…right? (…I’d like to think so!)

And finally, one announcement. We had a Chu/Shikoku Qualifier scheduled for 3/7 (Sun) at the IKUSA Kochi arcade, but due to circumstances on the arcade operator’s end we are no longer able to hold the qualifier there. Currently, we are looking for a new location at which to hold the qualifier, so please wait for updates as they become available. (The date of the qualifier may end up changing as well.) We are very sorry for the inconvenience! We are running out of time, so I’d like to get this decided on as quickly as possible.

Well then, the day after tomorrow, 2/28 (Sun) is the 2nd Kansai Qualifier! See you all in Kyoto!

Super Street Fighter IV Developer Blog 2/23/10: The Making Of Ibuki

Out of the characters from Street Fighter III, I’m most excited about Ibuki making the jump to Super Street Fighter IV. In the blog below (which was translated by Azrael of SRK) the game designers talk about the process of making Ibuki. Good Stuff. (more…)

Developer Blog: Tatsunoko VS. Capcom, The Long Journey to North America

Here’s a blog that Seth Killian did for the Japanese Tatsunoko VS. Capcom blog. It was done about a month ago but is just now getting translated. Nothing big in here but it gives some decent insight into how Tatsunoko VS. Capcom came to the United States. (more…)
