Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath DLC Delayed Because Of Earthquake/Tsunami In Japan

#mvc3 @marvelvscapcom

By now we have all heard about the devistation that took place in Japan a few days ago. An huge earthquake hit and caused tsunami which has crippled the country. Thousands are missing and many are feared dead. The event is also affecting Japanese companies such as Capcom who has just announced via thier website that due to the earthquake they will be delaying the new character DLC for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 which featured Jill Valentine and Shuma-Gorath. No new date is mentioned but I think we fans can be a bit patient on this one due to the reasoning behind it.

UPDATE: Turns out the delay is only for Japan and other territories will still be able to grab the content on March 15th as planned. Speaking of grabbing content, word on the street is that some people were able to get Kill and Shuma early by simply punching in the codes that came with their Collectors Edition version of the game. How cool is that?

Details and Images for Marvel Vs. Capcom DLC Content

By now, many of you already have gotten your hands on Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. If you are one of those people and you are also a completist, you are probably wondering what is the deal with the DLC for the game. Well Capcom released some details and images on the DLC. Check it out below.

We’ve recently announced 2 more pieces of DLC content and from looking at the comments on the wall and posts, it looks like some of you are a bit confused about what’s what and we’d like to help you out!

DLC Costume pack- Available March 1st, 2011

* New costume for Ryu, Iron Man, Captain America, Dante, Chris, and Thor
* All 6 are available for 400 Microsoft points or $5
* These are NOT included in the special edition.
* Check out the costumes here: http://www.capcom-unity.com/jgonzo/blog/2011/02/14/marvel_vs._capcom_3_media_explosion

Shadow Mode- Available March 1st, 2011

* The first Shadow Mode pack will include teams and AI from three Capcom staff members, including producer Ryota Niitsuma, associate producer Akihito Kadowaki, and a QA tester.
* The first pack is scheduled for release on March 1st, 2011 with more packs becoming available for download at a later date. If you ever wanted to say you beat the producer of Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at his own game, this is your best shot.
* These are NOT included in the special edition.
* Pricing is currently undetermined.

Bought the special edition of MvC3? You get Jill and Shuma Gorath! Available March 15th, 2011.

* The SE version of the game comes with downloadable characters, Jill and Shuma Gorath. You may redeem these characters on March 15, 2011. We did not intentionally delay the DLC characters as we know how badly our fans want to play them. This was an unfortunate technical issue and we apologize for them not being available today.
* For PS3 copies of the special edition, your PSN code is printed on the back of your art book. On March 15th, your PSN code will be available for activation. If you attempt to enter your code before March 15, 2011, PSN will tell you that it’s an invalid code.
* For Xbox 360 copies of the special edition, we will send you your Xbox LIVE DLC code on March 15, 2011. To register your email with our system, please visit: marvelvscapcom3.com/redeemand follow the step by step instructions. The code on the back of your art book is NOT a Xbox LIVE code but rather, the code you input into our redeem site.
* Jill and Shuma-Gorath is the only DLC that comes with the special edition. Buying the special edition does not also make you eligible for other DLC.
* Jill and Shuma-Gorath will still be available for purchase on March 15, 2011 for the people who did not buy the Special Edition. Each character will cost $5 or 400 Microsoft points.
* What’s the point of the special edition then you ask? For the same $10 premium that you pay for Jill and Shuma Gorath, you’ll also get a steel case, custom sleeve, 48-page artbook, and 1-month free of Marvel Digital Comics.

I’m actually sort of surprised that Capcom is doing costumes for this game. I figured when I saw that they did skins for the original costumes that that was their way of approaching the costume issue. Interesting.

Hulk Only Knows His Cousin’s Name In Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

#MVC3 @marvelvsCapcom

Screw Attack put together a video showing how the Hulk doesn’t call his partner’s by their name and instead uses terms like “Goldilocks” to describe Thor and “Claw Girl” for X-23

Galactus Officially Revealed In Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

#MVC3

I know what you are thinking, “We been knew Galactus was in the game. Even seen footage of him in action”. That’s because some video recently leaked showing the boss in battle but today Capcom has officially announced the character and even gave him his own trailer. Peep how you not only have to fight Big G but before you even get your hands on him you have to battle two of his heralds at at the same time!

Hsien-Ko and Sentinel Revealed For Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Remember when we were told we were not going to get any other Darkstalkers in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 after Morrigan and Felicia were announced? Well they lied. Surprise there right? Hsien-Ko joins the other two female Night Warriors. In addition to that we get fan favorite Sentinel! Whether he comes in a special “mango” variation has yet to be seen though.

Akuma and Taskmaster Revealed For Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Geez, I kinda expected this to be a non-news day. You know, with it being MLK Day and all. Oh how I was wrong. Capcom has saw fit to drop a new character reveal on us. This time we get Akuma and Taskmaster. Yes I know, we were told there were going to be no more Shotos. Surprise! And as for Taskmaster, he did appear on some rumored roster lists so his appearance isn’t much of a surprise either. The more fighters the better I say. So I’m not really complaining.

Capcom-Unity Live Stream From CES 2011

Here’s the Capcom-Unity live stream from CES 2011. Looks like they will be showing off Marvel Vs. Capcom which should include futher looks at the just announced Phoenix and Haggar. Check it out.

Mike Haggar and Phoenix (and Akuma) Revealed For Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

@marvelvscapcom

Well those who have been following Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 closely were probably expecting these two. Haggar had accidently (or maybe on purpose) been leaked by Capcom themselves. Phoenix had appeared on a number of “rumor rosters” for the game. One had even correctly predicted her ability to go from Happy-Go-Lucky Phoenix to Consumer-Of-Planets-Dark Phoenix. Well, without futher ado, here’s their debut videos.

Besides the intentional reveals of Phoenix and Haggar, NowGamer.com posted a review of the game on their site that included a pic which clearly shows Akuma. It has since been removed but not before spreading around the net. Oops.

Felicia, The Forgotten Fighter of Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

Kinda sucks to be Felicia. Though she is one of the few Darstalkers characters that still gets a little attention from time to time, it seems she is getting the backburner treatment when it comes to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Ever wonder why you hardly see gameplay video with Felicia in it or never see her in any promotional materials for the game? Well, it seem her butt nakedness has made basically banned from any marketing endeavors. Since the game is being marketed to all ages, the naked catwoman is not a good look for Capcom. Some fans however feel that marketing is not the only plae Felicia is being forgotten. Several fans took to the Capcom Unity site to voice their feelings that Felicia is basically “bottom tier” and Capcom has not given her the tools to be a competitive fighter. That’s where Seth Killian comes in. He took to the boards himself to school fans on how good Felicia actually might be.

Is there going to be one more Darkstalker in Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Seth: No way you’re getting that one out of me :-*

Why has Capcom made Felicia weak and have a horrible English voice actor and the lowest heath in the game?

Seth: Felicia is, in my opinion, much stronger in MvC3 than she has ever been in any game before. She might seem a bit obvious so far, but she definitely has the tools to win. Right now probably the most under-appreciated character in the game (in fairness, that’s mostly by people who haven’t had a chance to play much). [...]

Seth, you’re talking about Felicia as though she’s the most awesome, deadly, unappreciated god tier character ever is really getting out of hand. — Al

Seth: ???

I don’t think I’ve really ever talked about Felicia in depth before, but I called her underappreciated because she is, and said she was, in my opinion, stronger in MvC3 than in any game before. That’s true. I don’t know how you translated that to what you’ve written above (“god-tier”?).

Your constant implications that those who say she’s bad or simply decent are fools who don’t know how to play her (which, by the way, is extremely insulting to people like me who have mained Felicia in every game she’s been in so far). She is not better in this game than in all the others she’s appeared in, she was vastly superior in Darkstalkers 3 and MvC2. — Al

Seth: Let’s take the crazy-talk down a notch here. Not sure where you’re coming from, but I didn’t call anybody a fool (how can I insult someone’s ability to play a character in a game that hasn’t even been released?). I said that nobody that I’ve seen in videos or playing at the various location tests, etc. has come close to tapping her potential. That’s also very true.

As for Felicia’s stamina, it’s below average (it’s not the lowest in the game), but low stamina is true for a lot of the strongest “rush” characters in terms of health, and she has a very strong rush-down game. Beyond her movelist, there are a lot of features of the MvC3 engine that she is particularly good at exploiting. I won’t be able to describe her extremely fast high/low mixups in a convincing way, but here’s a few other Felicia fun-facts that make her strong:

1) Being able to OTG the opponent without the use of an assist is a very valuable ability in MvC3, and Felicia’s Down-Toward + Medium Attack is one of the best in that department, meaning she can easily hit-confirm into a lethal combo from virtually any situation.

2) She can also combo from a throw as well as from her command throw. Because Down-Toward + Medium Attack is also jump-cancellable, in the corner, this is particularly dangerous.

3) She has a low-hitting assist, meaning she’s not just dangerous as a point character, she’s also one of the most dangerous assists in the game (you can set up unblockable high/low situations).

Those aren’t even the top reasons she’s strong, which are better seen than talked about. Her “Helper Kitty” super is also extremely dangerous, and sets up more potential unblockables while she’s on point.

Did you know those things about Felicia? I’m guessing “no” because nobody without a copy of the game would know them, and if you DID have a copy of the game, I wouldn’t have to tell you that Felicia is legit, because you would know it for yourself :P I’m not trying to go, “I have the game and you don’t! Neener neener neener!” I’m just pointing them out to illustrate that there’s a lot more to these characters than meets the eye, or that you would necessarily discover after a few minutes of playtime. You’re going to want to go hands-on and spend some time playing before you make pronouncements about who sucks, who doesn’t — there are an unbelievable amount of possibilities in here.

Anyway, enough Felicia chat — let’s have this argument again after the MvC3 release. If you still think Felicia is so worse than she’s been in other games (and can find a rankings chart or two that agrees), I’ll be happy to apologize.

P.S.: To the original poster, regarding the voice, if you don’t like the English voice actor, you’ll have the option to select her Japanese voice instead!

So there you have it. Felicia definitely and certainly might not suck. :)

New Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Trailer

C. Viper and Storm Revealed for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

#MVC3 @marvelvscapcom

Well, many of us saw this coming but that doesn’t mean it isn’t nice to see. Storm and C. Viper have joined Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. Storm is a veteran of the Vs. Series but some may find it surprising that C. Viper made the cut. She appeared on a few early rumored roster list which led many to believe those very list were fake. I guess some people have issue with a new school Street Fighter character got the nod over so many others that have appeared in a VS. game before (Dhalsim, Sakura, Dan, ect.) Check out the videos below which show both ladies in action. Honestly I’ve never been a big Viper fan but she looks like she’s a lot of fun to play with this time around.

Official Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Package Artwork and Release Date

You may have gotten a glimpse already but here is the official package artwork for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. A thing of beauty no? In addition to that Capcom has announced the official release date of the game, February 15th, 2011 (the 18th for you Europeans).

Jill Valentine and Shumu Gorath Leaked Along With Entire Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Roster?

@marvelvscapcom #mvc3

It was just yesterday that we found out that She-Hulk and Zero were coming to Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. We also knew we would be getting some more news sometime this week but this is not what i was expecting at all. It appears as though the slow leak of fighters for the game has become a cascade waterfall!

Gaming store Gamestop has posted ad advertisement for the Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Collector’s Edition. The package includes the following…

• Steelbook case featuring exclusive art work,

• Comic/Art book- A 12-page prologue comic, written by Marvel writer Frank Tieri, plus campaign art and a curated selection of fan art.

• 1-month Subscription to Marvel Digital Comics, providing unlimited online access to Marvel content.

• People who pre-order through GameStop will receive MvC3 console decals created by Fathead. Also, character cards with a move list and descriptions.

However the most interesting thing is that it also says that anyone who purchases the collector’s edition in February for $69.99 will be able to download Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath four weeks later which pretty much confirms them as DLC characters.

It doesn’t end there though. Another leaked roster is making it’s way around the internets and this one may indeed be official seeing as it had Shuma and Jill on it before Gamestop posted the ad mentioned above. Here it is. Let me know if you think it is the real deal. Looks about right to me.

She-Hulk and Zero Revealed for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3

@MARVEL @marvelvscapcom #MVC3

I heard we were gonna see some new characters for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 this week but I wasn’t expecting them so soon. And who did we get? She-Hulk and Zero. I’m not sure how people are going to feel about these reveals as fans who want the most original characters may be turned off by Hulk’s cousin (much in the way they were turned off by Wolverine’s clone X-23) and those who may have been waiting for Megaman might be a bit disappointed that we are getting Zero. Personally I can’t say I’m too thrilled to see either of these characters join the cast. One thing that is odd is that neither of the two fighters revealed was Mike Haggar who Capcom recently let slip was in the game. Check out their reveal videos below and be sure to give your thoughts.
