The Cross Counter Guide to Beating Your Friends

@gootecks @ThatMikeRossGuy

You probably know Cross Counter. If not it is a series by Gootecks that goes in to depth about fighting game technique. We have actually started posting their web show here on X-ism. Now they are releasing a handy guide that is appropriately called The Cross Counter Guide to Beating Your Friends. And it is an excellent resource for anyone looking to taking that next step in going head to head with others. I’ve downloaded it and read it and found it rather interesting. You can visit the website for more info or just download the PDF version using the link below.

Street Fighter IV Now Available For The iPhone Platform

Who would have ever thought this day would come. Street Fighter IV is now available for the iPhone platform. That means for the price of $9.99 you can play Street Fighter on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.

Though I’ll remain skeptical until I get my hands on it, I heard that it’s pretty good.

I’m not a iPhone owner. I do own an iPod Touch but I’m hoping that the new SDK for Palm Pre, which lets developers transfer apps over to the Pre easily, means I may be playing Street Fighter IV on my phone too one day.

You can grab the Street Fighter IV game on the iTunes Store here.

Shakey Cam Footage of Street Fighter IV for iPhone In Action

When Street Fighter IV was announced for iPhone it was met with a collective “…why?”. Not only did people think there was not much of a demand for the game, most couldn’t understand how it would be played on a device with no buttons anyway. The video below will either convince you you reinforce what you already felt.

The game will drop in March at a $9.99. Still don’t know if I’m gonna spring for this one. We’ll see.

EGM Is Back With Long Lost Street Fighter IV Issue

Since the internet has become so widespread, printed magazines have been getting destroyed. One such publication was EGM. However EGM is back and as part of their comeback they are debuting a new digital magazine format and the first issue that is getting the special treatment is the last issue that was completed before the magazine went under. The issue featuring Street Fighter IV on the cover was never actually published until now.

I can’t wait to read completely irrelevant and old Street Fighter IV news!!

You can check out a preview of the new digital mag format here and this is what EGM wrote on their blog about it.

We’re taking a slightly different approach with an open screen platform that requires neither the downloading of applications or the use of “readers” to deliver an immersive digital magazine experience. EGM[i], using a new interactive technology called ScreenPaper, provides many built-in features (including animations, video, and audio) as well as coupons, DLC opportunities, and a host of commerce capabilities that can be easily updated and changed.

For those of you interested in how EGM[i] is changing the way magazines will be experienced, check out this very brief sneak peek at our rendition of the infamous Lost Issue cover created with ScreenPaper technology. The links on this cover page aren’t live yet – but they will be long before summer arrives.

Bi-Weekly Sonic Hurricance Combo Video Featuring Rose

Thursday Night The DICE Summit held the 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards. Guess what walked away with Fighting Game Of The Year? If you guessed Street Fighter IV then give yourself a pat on the back. Ono-san himself showed up to Vegas to accept the award on behalf of the SFIV development team

So are we gonna see Super Street Fighter IV grab the award next time?

The flood gates are open! Now we have a few pics from Super Street Fighter IV showing Ibuki, Dudley and Makoto in their battle stances. Beautiful. Exactly how one would hope they would look rendered in 3D.

Ibuki, Makoto And Dudley Finally Confirmed For Super Street Fighter IV!!

Street Fighter Coming To PSP Also? Probably Not.

By now we all know Street Fighter IV is coming to the iPhone platform but there also seems a bit of buzz about the game coming to PSP. (more…)

Street Fighter IV Coming To iPhone, iPod Touch And The iPad!

Are you effing kidding me?! Street Fighter IV is coming out for iPhone, iPod Touch and the iPad. Yeh, you read that right. According to IGN, Capcom has been working for several months to shrink Street Fighter IV small enough that they could get it into an iPhone. Of course since there in no stick or pad on the iPhone, the game will rely on an on-screen simulated joystick.

As for characters, Ken and Ryu are the only confirmed names thought Capcom has said there will be a number of new and classic fighters available. Though a complete cast from the consoles is unlikely.

This likely a good move on Capcom’s part as iPhone seems to be developers’ platform of choice these days but I can’t really understand why skip the Wii, DS and PSP? Actually now that I think about I remember Capcom saying the Wii wasn’t powerful enough to run SFIV. Yet the iPhone is?

CAPCOM® ANNOUNCES STREET FIGHTER® IV FOR THE IPHONE AND IPOD TOUCH

Legendary Fighting Franchise Set To Make Its App Store Debut This March

LOS ANGELES, CA – February 16, 2010 –Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that Street Fighter® IV, the definitive next generation fighting franchise, is making its way to iPhone and iPod Touch this March. The game will feature a roster pulled from recent console releases including several classic and newly introduced fighters.

“This is Street Fighter 4 in all its glory… uncompromised and awesome,” said Takeshi Tezuka, General Manager of Mobile Content Development, Capcom. “We’re particularly proud of the multiplayer feature as it remains true to the series arcade roots by allowing players to go head-to-head over Bluetooth in spectacular fashion.”

Street Fighter 4 for iPhone uses an advanced virtual d-pad or “Visual Pad” control interface to immerse the player into the familiar Street Fighter combat system. Players can fully customize the “Visual Pad” interface by repositioning the buttons and d-pad anywhere on the screen through the options menu. Additionally, players can further refine their configuration by setting the transparency level of the controls.

For newcomers to the series, a new “Dojo” mode unleashes the warrior within turning neophytes into Street Fighter masters. Once players hone there skills in single player mode they can then go head-to-head against their friends via Bluetooth for bragging rights and the coveted title of “Champion.”

Street Fighter 4 will be available this March on Apple’s App Store. For more information, visit the Capcom official press site at www.press.capcom.com
