Oni Officially Announced For Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Editon

#streetfighter

Thanks to a huge leak a while back, we have known about Oni for a while now. Capcom was not quite ready to spill the beans and officially acknowledge the character until now though. Oni is now available for play for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and Capcom has posted some pictures on him in action as well as some video clips of his Ultras. You can find all that below.

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition Official Trailer Leaked

#streetfighter

Well, looks like we can all stop guessing about Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition as a trailer has just leaked to the net. The trailer not only says the game is indeed coming in the form of DLC (not a disc release as some would ahve liked) and will add Yun, Yang, Evil Ryu and Oni as playable characters. Unfortaunately it does not mention any other characters though. Also it seem that the replay channel is getting some serious enhancements such as being able to search and subscribe to particular fighters you like to watch. I have embeded the video below but the Capcops are on the prowl so be quick.

Evil Ryu Makes His Official Debut In Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

#StreetFighter

The Evil Ryu secret got let out of the bag some time ago but Capcom used their resources to stuff him right back in that bag and we have not seen or heard about him or his buddy Oni since. This week we heard that Capcom we going to make him official and here he is. Now we get to check him out in direct video and high resolution artwork. So check it out and if you are lucky enough to be near an arcade with Super Street Fighter IV, go give him a workout.

Dead or Alive Producer Takes Shots At Super Street Fighter IV for 3DS

#StreetFighter

By now most people know that Super Street Fighter IV is coming out for the Nintendo 3DS in March. Did you know that there is another fighting game coming out for the new handheld around the same time? Dead Or Alive: Dimensions is also on its way. Now if you are a true fighting game nut, then maybe you’ll pick up both titles. However if you can only offord to drop cash for one, it is likely Super Street Fighter IV. Team Ninja’s Yosuke Hayashi seems to know that and is looking to take some of the wind out of Capcom’s sails and term Joe Public’s opinion to Dead or Alive.

“Street Fighter is a 2D fighting game. But for us, Dead Or Alive is a 3D fighting game – so [Capcom has] a limitation with Street Fighter. As a 3D fighting game we have a lot of possibility and it is natural to convey it to 3DS.”

“[Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition] has a figurine battle. We are in the fighting game genre, and they’re not fighting!”

Does that make you want Dead or Alive any more than you already did (or didn’t)?

Evil Ryu and Oni Revealed For Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition

#StreetFIghter

What a night! No one saw this coming but today several arcades have unlocked Evil Ryu and Oni for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.

No one is sure if the unlock was sanctioned by Capcom or if someone is hacking game units but SSFIV: AE has two new fighters. First up is Evil Ryu who is basically what people would expect, a blend of Ryu and Akuma. Besides having a gaping hole in his chest, there isn’t much new there. Oni on the the other hand is the complete different story. When images of the two fighters leaked a few weeks ago everyone assumed Oni to be a supped up Akuma in the same manner Evil Ryu is a supped Ryu. That does not seem to be the case. Oni doesn’t really fight like Akuma at all. He’s actually more like Gouken. That fact plus the fact that there are some major differences in appearance between this Oni guy and Akuma has me wondering if they are the same character at all. As time passes we should know more about these new fighters in the mean time check out the leaked media.

Ultra Challengers Pack 2 Hit XBox Live And Playstation Network

#StreetFighter

You can now go grab the Ultra Challengers Pack 2 download for Super Street Fighter IV. This download includes new costumes for Juri, Cody, Adon, Ibuki and T. Hawk. The pack will set you back about 400 Microsoft points or $4.00 on PSN.

Gotta love how Capcom is getting us for these costumes. Just imagine how much money you have spent if you have bought every single costume pack since Vanilla Street Fighter IV!

Shin Akuma and Evil Ryu Unimpressively Confirmed

#StreetFighter

So it is true. Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma (a real Shin Akuma, not the watered down one already in SSFIV) are going to be in Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. The confirmation comes via a new trailer that was recently released by Capcom.

At the end of the trailer above we are shown images of Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma. Though both characters are both visually rather cool looking I can’t help but feel a little shafted if they are indeed representing the last bit of playable fighters we will be getting.

First off, we get Yun and Yang which are basically slight variations on the same fighter mechanics. Now we are shown Evil Ryu and Shin Akuma who would also be variation of already established fighter mechanics. Ironically Akuma and Ryu already share most of the same moves. So in the end it will likely be the same ol crap with a new paint job.

At this point I’m really hoping we get some seriously different fighters added to the game via time release or something or I will be a bit disappointed. Not saying I still wouldn’t play it… cause I would.

As Ono Trolls Away We Are Stuck Wondering About New Characters

@Yoshi_OnoChin #StreetFIghter

As We approach the release of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition fans are stuck with one persisting question, “Are we getting more characters or what?”

It is a question that is yet to get a clear cut answer. Yes, we know about Yun and Yang and though I’m sure they are great, many fans want more than just “kung fu Ryu and Ken”.

Rumors have been floating around for months that SSFIV: AE would be getting a whopping six new fighters. However, other than the above mentioned Yun and Yang there has been no solid info about new fighters. Series producer Yoshinori Ono has been especially vague when answering such inquieries on his Twitter account.

Very recently some images started floating around on the new depicting new achievemments for an Arcade Edition update for the consoles. The images hint that Evil RYu and Shin Akuma may be playable characers in AE. What do Ono say when asked?

I’ll see the picture it tomorrow(JPN Monday) ;D RT @HighOnPCP: what is up with this pictures? http://tinyurl.com/35h93hd are they real?less than a minute ago via ついっぷる/twipple

As you see he didn’t really clear things up any.

So when are we getting those four other characters that will brings us to a total of 6 like the rumor says? Well, with the game due out in a matter of a few weeks, one of two things is likely to reveal itself as truth. The first is that the new fighters are going to be time released much in the way some were for the original SFIV Arcade. This would be it could be quite some time before we learn the identities of those fighters and see them on our consoles. The second is that there aren’t any other fighters. Yun and Yang are it. While that would quite disappointing just keep in mind that Ono or Capcom has never said that there were more fighters coming. At least not directly.

Like mostly everyone else, I’m hoping we do get a few more fighters but when your info is coming from the drama queen Yoshinori Ono, who knows what is really the case.

SSF IV AE will get Gold master just a bit more! All I can do is wait for approval.AEwill running in Mid of Dec! ;) http://p.twipple.jp/akVxMless than a minute ago via ついっぷる/twipple

The drama queen is back! Yoshinori Ono has a way of trolling the masses and getting them all riled up. And it works. The guy is a one man hype machine thanks to Twitter. Today he posted a tweet in which he announced that Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is complete. That in of itself is a great thing but Ono added a picture along with the tweet that has everyone playing the guessing game. The picture shows Dhalsim roasting an unknown fighter. So who’s the fighter? Some are saying they can see dark leggings. Ingrid Maybe? Some are saying that are seeing overalls. Alex Maybe? Some are saying they are seeing a thong. Urien maybe? With Ono it is very possible that it could be an unannounced fighter but to me it honestly looks like Yang. What do you think?

New Rumor About Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Editon’s New FIghters

@eventhubscom #StreetFighter

So there a little rumor floating around courtesy of the folks at EventHubs. I basically goes like this, there are two new fighters to be added to Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Here are the other details offered…

Rolento and Oro were disconfirmed as potential characters.

• The two additional cast members for the Arcade Edition have both appeared in past Street Fighter games.

If this is indeed true, it would be a bit of a surprise as Rolento was pretty high on many people’s “Likely To Be Added To SSFIV:AE” list, including my own. Honestly I thought Rolento, along with Alex, being shoe ins. Oro I would have liked to have seen but I didn’t think he had the fan base out there. I’m still holding strong for Elena though.

On a related note, the Street Fighter IV blog has posted some new pictures that show a character select screen that had smaller thumbnails for the fighters leading many to think that the pics are being made smaller to make room for more fighter’s heads.

New Super Street Fighter IV Patch Is Coming

#StreetFighter

Remember how everyone was all pissed off about how Capcom went about the alternate costumes in vanilla Street Fighter IV? If not let me refresh your memory. The costumes were touted as down loadable content. When in reality the costumes were already on the disc and the only think a player was downloading was a key that unlocked them. This of course angered people who felt that they shouldn’t have to pay for something that is already on the game they purchased.

Fast forward to Super Street Fighter IV and Capcom is doing things a bit different. This time around you have to actually download the new costumes, they are not on the disc. This brings with it a new issue. What if someone chooses not to download the new costumes and plays someone online who has? Well, there’s a patch for that.

On October 26th, Capcom will be releasing the first free “catalogue” item in the XBox Marketplace (likely the PSN Store also) that will allow those who have not purchased the new costumes to view them while playing online. The second comes out December 21st. The first is to view the fist few packs of costumes, the second is for the last few sets.

In the event that someone refuses to download these special catalogue items, whenever they play someone using a new costume, they will only see that character’s default wear.
